New Energy, Big Vision: A Summer of Creativity at Huntington Art Center
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve stepped into a new role as the Executive Director of the Huntington Art Center!
It’s an incredible honor to lead this beloved creative space in the heart of downtown Huntington—a place with deep roots in our community and even bigger potential for growth. Since taking on this role in April, I’ve been hard at work designing programming that is engaging, inclusive, and fun. I believe art should be accessible to everyone, and our new lineup of events reflects that commitment.
From immersive summer camps to empowering women’s workshops, vibrant community showcases to open mic nights—this summer is just the beginning. Here’s a peek at what’s coming up:
🎨 Summer Art Camps for Kids (Ages 7–15)
📅 Late June through Late July (No camp week of July 4)
🕘 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Monday–Friday
Each day starts with a warm welcome and circle time at 9:00 AM, followed by a morning of creative exploration!

Monday – Movement (creative dance & yoga)
Tuesday – Pottery with Luke (hand-building with clay)
Wednesday – Art Activity with Pamela Burris
Thursday – Cooking Fun with Nicki (easy recipes & food art)
Friday – Nature Paint with Ashley Kaufman (DIY from plants!)
🍷 Pretty in Paint – A Women-Focused Art Class
Every 4th Saturday of the Month from 6pm to 8pm!

Led by me, America Carrillo, Pretty in Paint is more than a wine and paint night—it’s an empowering space to play, create, and connect. Explore new art techniques in a judgment-free zone. No experience required—just bring yourself.

I’m so excited to present my newest solo show, Allegiance. This series explores memory, identity, and the evolving idea of Americana—sometimes warm and nostalgic, sometimes raw and real. The work invites viewers to reflect on what we remember, what we forget, and what stories shape us.

Calling all kid artists! In partnership with Nick’s Kitchen and Tenderloin Fest, we’re hosting a countywide Coloring & Art Contest for kids 12 and under.
🎨 Two age groups: 6 & under • 7–12
🏆 Winners get a free tenderloin + a spot in our art showcase at the festival!
